Connection Cables

The AlphaSmart 3000 can connect to any computer; the only difference is the type of connection cable used. The standard USB Cable can be used with any USB-equipped PC or Macintosh.

Printer Cables

The AlphaSmart 3000 can print directly to most serial and parallel printers. You can use any Serial Printer Cable if printing to standard serial printers, but you will need an AlphaSmart Parallel Printer Cable if printing to parallel printers. The AlphaSmart 3000 does not print directly to USB-only printers.

Infrared Pods

These compact IrDA-standard transceivers attach to a computer's USB or serial port, and allow it to communicate wirelessly with any AlphaSmart 3000 IR model via infrared. Some computers have built-in IrDA transceivers that can be used, and do not require a pod.

Updater Cables

If your computer does not work with USB, you will need to purchase either a PC Updater Cable or Mac Updater Cable to install SmartApplets or system updates using your computer's serial port.
