US or UK Dana?
To identify whether you are in possession of a UK Dana with UK keyboard please check the number '4' key on the keypad of your Dana:
  1. If it includes the € (Euro) symbol then you have the UK version of Dana or Dana Wireless.
     
  2. If not then you are in possession of a US version of Dana or Dana Wireless.

UK Dana 1.5 System Update

Important note:
This ROM update is only compatible with UK Danas fitted with 16MB RAM size and SHOULD NOT be loaded on 1st generation UK Danas with 8MB RAM size.

  1. How to find out your Dana's RAM size:
    • Turn Dana on and press the Menu key
    • Tap on info
    • If you see Free memory: ..../15.5M then your Dana is a 16MB RAM version and can load the ROM update. Please check the Rom version first (below).
    • If you see Free memory: ..../7.5M then your Dana is a 8MB RAM version. The ROM update IS NOT compatible with your Dana.
       
  2. How to find out the ROM version of your 16 MB Dana:
    • Turn Dana on and press the Menu key
    • Tap on version
    • Press the Function key and the i key simultaneously
    • Now you see the ROM version of your Dana. If the ROM version is 1.2.1 or below, then the ROM update is appropriate. If the ROM version is 1.5 or higher, the update is NOT needed and should NOT be performed.
       
  3. How to find out whether your Dana is a UK Dana:
    • Check the number '4' key on the keypad of your Dana: If it includes the € (Euro) symbol then you have the UK version of Dana or Dana Wireless.
    • Please do not update the US version of Dana or Dana wireless with the UK ROM update. You will find the 1.5 ROM update for the US Dana in the download section of the US website.

AlphaBeam for the Mac
AlphaBeam for the Mac is free software to enable IR transfer between Neo and an Apple Mac, Dana and an Apple Mac as well as between an infrared-capable AlphaSmart 3000 and an Apple Mac. There are some limitations in the transfer of international characters such as the "Euro" character €, as this software is designed around American Macs.
